How To Stay Happy And Motivated On Social Media
Hi, I’m Jess, and I’ve been working at Social Fireworks for almost 8 months now.
I grew up in the generation of social media, so I’ve always used it for personal use. However, since using social media for business purposes, I have noticed how tricky it can be to spend all day on a laptop, scrolling and seeing the news, flicking through the apps on my mobile, and more. .
In this blog, I will be giving you 4 tips about ways to stay motivated and happy on social media - from my own experience!
1. Pomodoro
Motivation, whatever the job you're in, can be tricky. Some days you just aren’t feeling 100%. You walk into the office, look at your to-do list and just want to go home!
Don’t worry. We’ve all been there.
Pomodoro is a lifesaver. Kizzie Nicholson, the founder of Social Fireworks taught me about it as soon as I joined the team. It is a time management method where you work a certain amount of time, and then you have a break for half the time you worked.
For example, if you set a timer for working straight out for half an hour with no distractions, you then have a 15 minute break where you get up, move around and get a drink.
You may wonder why this helps motivation. Well, by working in small chunks, you are not working flat out for a long period of time, and you get rewarded with a break every half an hour! Not only do you get so much more done, but your work also reflects the best you - as you are not overdoing it.

2. Read Some Good News Once In A While!
Now this tip seems like a simple task, but it’s not done enough and it will definitely improve your mental health.
When I’m scrolling on Instagram or Facebook, all I ever see is the negative, sad things going on in the world.
Of course, there are pieces of news that you need to be aware of when it comes to events happening around the world, but we understand that when these are the only things you’re seeing, it can take a toll on people’s mental health, or just make you feel low.
That’s why it’s great to simply search up ‘happy news’. It may sound silly, but trust me, seeing videos of people helping each other out, or funny pictures, can really make a difference in your day.
3. There’s Always A Positive Spin
Social media is a great place. You can get in touch with anyone around the world, connect with people you haven’t seen in a long time, discover new interests and hobbies. The positives are endless.
But with all good, comes bad. Social media is full of trolls, bullies and just unkind people. There will be people who comment mean things, or things you don’t want to hear about your business.
It is human instinct to take these kinds of things to heart, and then comment back and make it a personal issue. The best thing to do is keep it professional. Respond accordingly in line with your company values, stay polite, and if you are upset then step away and take a walk.
Letting people online get to you is not worth it. They hide behind their phones and some people can be really cruel for no apparent reason. Try to put a positive spin on things and think “well at least my contents reach a lot of people!” You are bigger than them!
4. Organisation
Yes, this is probably the biggest cliche in the book. But believe me, if you are not organised then it makes life a lot harder.
Personally, I love writing things down. At Social Fireworks, we work by the month. I have a planner where at the end of each month I will completely write down everything I need to do daily the next month. This includes
When I have to post content
Zooms and meeting I have
Recurring events
Days out/Client Visits
Where I am working (office or work from home)
Obviously things always change… I just remember to write them in my planner!
On top of that, each day I’ll write down a to-do list for the next day, with priorities of what I need to do. The best feeling is crossing them out when you're done!
I hope these tips and tricks help you out:) And remember to stay positive! If you want to read any of our previous blogs, click the link here: https://www.socialfireworks.co.uk/news and if you have any questions on how I can help you, feel free to email me at Jessica@socialfireworks.co.uk
